Notes: This is the second consecutive time Goodyear has brought this particular combination of left- and right-side tires to Pocono . . . in addition to Pocono, Nextel Cup teams ran this tire set-up earlier this season at both Las Vegas and Bristol . . . coming up in the second half of the season, Cup teams will run these codes at Indianapolis next week and Bristol at the end of the month . . . Busch and Truck Series teams will also run this combination at Nashville this season . . . as on all NASCAR ovals longer than one mile, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Pocono . . . the air pressure in the inner liners must be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote - Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "Nextel Cup teams have run this tire set-up three times so far in 2004, including at Pocono in June. Teams should be very familiar with how these tires perform at this track, so we expect a good weekend. Comparing what we've brought to Pocono for the past several years, this right-side compound is the same, while the left-side is softer. As far as the construction is concerned, it is softer and more compliant than in the past, which is an across-the-board change for 2004."
