Target Team Facts:
* Championship Standings: Casey Mears and the Target Team are currently 17th in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup standings. Mears currently sits 265 points out of the NASCAR Top 10.
* Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target Team are bringing chassis #114 to Pocono. Mears drove this chassis at Chicagoland Speedway on July 11 to a 15th-place finish. The car was running in the top five at Chicago, but a piece of debris covered the opening on the grill causing the water and oil temperature gauges to peg. Mears had to pit under green-flag conditions and lost a lap to the leaders. The car was consistently one of the quickest cars on the track.
* Pocono: Mears and the Target Team earned their first top-10 finish at Pocono in the Nextel Cup Series in June. After qualifying 21st, the No. 41 Dodge ran as high as third during the 200-lap race before finishing 10th.
* Did you know?: The Target team accumulated 1,473 points and sat 34th in the standings after 19 races in 2003. This season the team has amassed 2,083 points and currently sits 17th, an improvement of 610 points and 17 positions in the standings.
Casey Mears Quotes:
On Pocono... "Pocono has been one of my most successful tracks," said Mears. "We had a disappointing weekend at Loudon, so going back to a track that we know we can run well on couldn't come at a better time. Pocono is a fun track for me because it's challenging. There are not very many tracks where you run that quickly and get to shift also.
"We're bringing back a different chassis with us, but I was extremely pleased with the way it ran in Chicago. It was unfortunate that we had the debris issue, but knowing you have a car that is capable of running in the top five helps build confidence heading into a weekend like this."
