Notes: This is the first time Goodyear has brought this particular combination of left- and right-side tires to Pocono . . . the previous combination had been run at the track since June 2001 . . . Nextel Cup teams ran this tire set-up earlier this season at both Las Vegas and Bristol . . the only other track on which Cup teams will run these codes in 2004 is Indianapolis . . . in addition, Busch and Truck Series teams will run this combination at Nashville this season . . . as on all NASCAR ovals longer than one mile, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Pocono . . . the air pressure in the inner liners must be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
Goodyear Quote - Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "Teams have run this set-up twice already this season, so they should be very familiar with how these tires perform. As far as Pocono goes, the right-side compound we are bringing is the same as last year, though the left-side is softer. Comparing to 2003, the overall contruction is also softer, continuing on what we've done with the entire 2004 tire lineup."
