KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Qualified 11th
"We made some adjustments on the Miller Lite Dodge, just a bit, because it was a handful in practice. The crew gave me a great car to qualify in and we get a top-12 starting spot, so we'll take it. The good old Tunnel Turn kicked my butt in qualifying. Our Miller Lite Dodge got real tight going through the corner. I still think (that corner) connects those two back straightaways which is always a big key here. It's a long hard effort to race here for 500 miles, so hopefully we'll stay out of trouble and have a shot at the end on Sunday."
DARIO FRANCHITTI (No. 40 Target Dodge Charger) Qualified 14th
"I'm very happy with that. The Target Dodge tested well here but we came back this morning and track conditions were a lot different. The guys did a great job dialing it in for me. It was good. Great way to come back and I'm enjoying Pocono."
"WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THE THREE DIFFERENT CORNERS HERE AT POCONO? "Oh, they're definitely different, for sure. If you get the car working well in one it can get a little loose in two. And three is now completely different because of the new strip of asphalt. It actually reminds me of road racing in the rain with the line that use in Turn 3 there. It's definitely not boring out there I'll put it that way."
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Texaco/Havoline Dodge Charger) Qualified 21st
"We found something wrong with the car this morning and they tried to change it for qualifying. We were so loose this morning and tightened up the car too much for qualifying and I ran a .70 (53.742) and should have run a .30 easily. It's a little frustrating. I was completely off the gas coming out of Turn 1 and that doesn't help."
RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Kodak Dodge Charger) Qualified 27th
"The car today was not good. The Kodak Dodge struggled in practice. We made it better for qualifying, but we're still trying to get that fine-tuned balance and the speed out of this race car."
REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger) Qualified 31st
"Our Target Dodge wasn't real good unloading off the truck, so we had to make a lot of adjustments to get ready for qualifying. We changed about five different things which made the car better than what it was for practice earlier today. I just wished we could have started the day a little bit better."
TERRY LABONTE (No. 45 PVA Dodge Charger) Qualified 41st
"The guys on the 45 PVA Dodge team did a great job today. Every time that we went out, we've gotten a little bit better. It's just kind of hard to get back into the car after you've been out for a while.
These cars are a little bit different than the old cars we use to run. It's been fun and hopefully we can gain on it some and improve on it tomorrow."
HAVE YOU ADAPTED TO THE NEW PATCH IN TURN THREE?
"I told the crew I've been here 52 times, so you wouldn't think it would be that hard because it's just a patch you have to follow, but I'm leaving a tenth or two on the table every time I go through there. I just haven't figured it out yet. We've gotten better. Hopefully, we'll keep gaining on it."
ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 Dodge Charger) Qualified 42nd
"Not a good lap for us. We have something going on under braking and turn-in which is making the car step out. I had to save the car in Turns 1 and 2. I got to Turn 3 and it wasn't too bad. I just couldn't drive in very deep because I was afraid that I was going to kick the rear end out."
SAM HORNISH JR., (No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger) Qualified 43rd
"We were 10th here when we were doing long runs and race stuff two weeks ago when we came and tested. We haven't been able to just not hit the bull's eye but even get it on the dartboard today. It's just been terrible. We're really not sure what happened. We didn't even do any qualifying runs because we felt we were better suited to do race stuff when we were here at the test and felt we were going to be pretty good. Today we can't even figure out what's wrong with it. I think that we're just going to have to put our heads down tomorrow. It's a long race. I mean, if you've got a good car you're going to go to the front. We'll just keep working on it and hopefully the Mobil 1 Dodge will get where we need it to be."
