DESPITE RECENT RESULTS, RIGGS REMAINS CONFIDENT
CENTRIX Financial To Be Primary Sponsor of No. 10 Car in Phoenix
PHOENIX (April 19, 2005)--What Scott Riggs has gone through the last two races is not a pleasant feeling. But the sophomore driver has been there before and knows that only patience, determination and hard work will solve the problem.
With a new look on his No. 10 Chevrolet for Saturday night's Subway Fresh 500, Riggs is hoping thatPhoenix International Raceway holds the next top-10 or better finish for his team.
The primary sponsorship on Riggs' car in Phoenixwill be the blue, white and gold colors of CENTRIX Financial. Valvoline, Riggs' major sponsor for 34 of the 36 point races, will take on an associate role during this weekend's Nextel Cup competition.
Despite 21st and 34th-place results in the last two events, Riggs knows momentum is key in earning solid finishes and that earning solid finishes is key in keeping up the team's momentum.
"These last two races have been tough," said Riggs, who dropped to 18th in driver points after last week's Texas race. "It's an odd situation. We know we have to keep up our momentum because it goes hand in hand with solid finishes, but it's a little hard to stay up beat when you've had a hard week. This is a strong team though and as long as I keep my confidence in them and they keep it in me, I have no doubt we'll bounce right back. It's still early in the season."
Despite bad breaks hampering his recent results, Riggs is still confident the team has what it takes to recover.
"We can't and won't let this keep us down," said Riggs. "We'll be back at Phoenix in the No. 10 CENTRIX Financial Chevy fighting as hard as ever for a good finish. We want our momentum to keep on rolling so you can bet we'll come back strong.
"I don't like to think about how many (driver) points we've lost in the last couple of weeks-- I know it's too many. But this team is determined. We'll rally back, hopefully this weekend in Phoenix."
