LEFFLER ON PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
"If I had to pick one race track as my favorite, it would be Phoenix. I spent a lot of time out there as a kid and ran the Copper Classic for a number of years. It's a slick old race track and unique in that both ends are so different and the surface is so wore out. You slide around a lot but I like that kind of racing. This is a challenging race since you start late afternoon and end under the lights. You start out a little loose and as the night comes you have to adjust for it. You really have to keep up with the changing conditions. We always seem to be pretty strong at Phoenix. Of course we go into every race feeling that we can be a contender but we definitely go out there with a little more confidence given our previous performances there. It's definitely one of those tracks that we look forward to going to for sure!"
The No. 38 Great Clips team will unload chassis #17 in this weekend's Bashas' Supermarkets 200. This will be the first time #17 has seen track time this season. Last year, Leffler drove this car to his second career victory at ORP in addition to a fifth place finish at Memphis, third place finish at The Milwaukee Mile and a 12th place finish at New Hampshire. In 2006, he captured two poles and led a total of 180 laps in #17, 76 of those laps occurring in the Phoenix spring race.
