Truex's Team Tallies Pit Crew Win at Phoenix

Martin Truex Jr.'s over-the-wall crew tallied its second win of the season in the Checkers0x00ae/Rally's0x00ae Double Drive-Thru Challenge by taking top honors in the competition Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway.

"The No. 1 team has been getting better and better as the year progresses," said Walt Smith, pit crew coordinator for Truex's Dale Earnhardt Inc. team. "They've really hit their stride in The Chase and have been doing a terrific job. The crew has gelled at the right time and we're looking forward to a great season next year as well."

Truex's crew, which will receive an $11,000 check for winning the weekly competition, consists of: Jeff Kerr (jackman), Ryan Buscaglio (front-tire carrier), Dave Collins (front-tire changer), Mark Kennerly (rear-tire carrier), Coleman Dollarhide (rear-tire changer), Preston Cordell (gasman), Mark Purvis (catch can) and Haskell Lavelette (eighth-man). Kevin "Bono" Manion is the crew chief.

Heading into the Nextel Cup Series season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend, only the four-time winning crews for Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon are in contention for the Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge season championship and the $111,150 season bonus.J

If Martin's crew does not win the competition at Homestead, the title will go to Gordon's crew, based on the tiebreaker of the team which finishes highest in the driver point standings.

Wimmer's Team Clinches Busch Series Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge

The No. 29 over-the-wall crew for Scott Wimmer clinched the Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge championship by winning the weekly competition during Saturday's Busch Series event at Phoenix International Raceway.

The crew has collected six wins this season: Nashville (June), Milwaukee, New Hampshire, St. Louis, Atlanta and Phoenix. Stephen Leicht's, Paul Menard's and Marcos Ambrose's crews are tied for second place with four wins.

The No. 29 over-the-wall crew is made up of: Adam North (jackman), Daniel Blizzard (front-tire changer), Jon Wallace (front-tire carrier), Christ Martin (rear-tire carrier), Tommy Wallace (rear-tire changer), Chad Haney (gasman), PJ Bryant (catch can) and Ron Jones (eighth man). The pit crew coach is Corinne Mauldin and the crew chief is Pat Smith.

Skinner's Team Takes Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge Championship

With five Checkers/Rally's Double Drive-Thru Challenge wins this season, Mike Skinner's No. 5 over-the-wall crew is the Truck Series season champion.

Skinner's crew took top honors in the weekly competition at Texas, Michigan, Milwaukee, Memphis and New Hampshire. Ron Hornaday's and Johnny Benson's crews are tied for second place with three wins each. Hornaday's teamwon the pit crew competition in Phoenix.

Skinner's No. 5 crew consists of: Kevin Kerr/ Ron Peterson/ Kyle Roland (jackman), Richard Gray (front-tire carrier), Kyle Kretchman (front-tire changer), Andrew Emrick (rear-tire carrier), Chad Rainey (rear-tire changer), Ricky Simmons (gasman), Bibb Bruton (catchcan) and Kevin Riddle (eighth man). The team's pit crew coach is Kevin Sharpe and the crew chief is Jeff Hensley.
