MARK MARTIN - No. 6 AAA Ford Fusion (Finished 6th)

YOU TOOK TWO TIRES THERE AND TOOK A CHANCE. "Yeah, we had a pretty good car. It was awesome on long runs and we didn't get none of that in the second half, but in the first half we were mowing 'em down. It wasn't real good on restarts with new tires and stuff, so we made the most of it. I'm really proud of this team and proud of our run. We could hold our own against those guys once everything settled in and we might have even done a little better with more green flag, but it was a great team effort by a great team."

DID THE YELLOWS HELP YOUR TIRES STAY COOL? "It wasn't so bad. Our car was actually better than it showed all day. We were pretty competitive there on speed at the end. If we hadn't have gotten some of those last cautions, I think we would have been able to keep Denny behind us."

WHAT DOES MATT HAVE TO DO NEXT WEEK? "He just needs some luck. That's what he needs. I believe the 48 is gonna be fast, but it's long from over. They've done their deal. They just need to keep doing their deal. They go down there and wish to have some luck."

MATT KENSETH - No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (Finished 13th)

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR DAY? "Not very good. We ran about like we've been running all weekend. We've been running about 25th-30th place all weekend and that's how we ran all day."

YOU'RE ABOUT 57 POINTS OUT. CAN YOU MAKE THAT GROUND UP NEXT WEEK? "Only if he blows up, and then we're running so bad right now that I don't feel like we can beat anybody. He's gonna have to have problems and we're gonna have to have a lot of good luck to get in there. We can't do it on performance. We can't run 25th on performance right now."

YOUR GUYS RALLIED FROM BEING BACK AROUND 30TH. "Yeah, that's about how we ran all day, so they did a good job on pit road. We fortunately qualified pretty good, so we never lost a lap on those long green flag runs, but it's pretty frustrating. We've just got some terribly, awful handling cars for some reason. We can't get out of our own way. I feel bad. I lost a couple of spots at the end. I was trying to hang it out and do everything we could and we kind of got up in the marbles there, but our cars are so bad that we just can't race with anybody. I don't know why they're so bad. We just got off somewhere and it's not much fun right now."

CAN YOU BE OPTIMISTIC AT HOMESTEAD KNOWING THE CAR YOU HAVE HAS HAD SOME SUCCESS? "No, not really. None of our cars have run. This car, we ran third with it in the spring, so, for some reason, none of our stuff is running and I don't know why. I don't know what we're doing wrong, but we're doing something wrong. I'm not too optimistic about it. Obviously, anything can happen. We're still within striking distance if they have a mechanical problem or some type of problem like that, but, certainly, I don't think we can beat them on performance."

JAMIE MCMURRAY - No. 26 Irwin Ford Fusion (Finished 40th)

"It's very tight off turn four and Tony could have let me go there. I don't know if he was upset there or exactly what he was thinking, but my spotter said, 'Outside,' and I just kind of held where I was and I don't know. That's the way it is."

ARE YOU OK? "Oh yeah. That's the way our season has been all year. I'm a little bit frustrated and upset right now, but at the same time I just want it to be over with."

YOU HAD A GOOD RUN GOING. "We had a really good car. It's a car we haven't really raced all year. It's really old. Our short-track program has been so bad that we decided to bring a different car here with a different front end package on it. We had a new crew chief this weekend with Chad (Norris), so Chad did a great job. I'm very pleased with him. We had a great car."

CARL EDWARDS - No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion (Finished 5th)

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THAT STOP-START-STOP-START ENDING. "That's not what we needed. Our Office Depot Fusion was really good all day. We had a little trouble with track position there at the end on that last pit stop, but, other than that, the day was great. I had a blast. We didn't need those restarts. The 24 car, he got up under me just a little bit on the last restart and that really hurt us, but I had fun."

HOW WAS YOUR DAY? "This was a fun day. That Fusion ran real well. Everybody from Office Depot and all the guys that were here were real motivated and we had a good time. The crew did a good job. Four out of five of our pit stops were spectacular and I just had fun. It's cool to run that well, especially at a fun race track like Phoenix."

YOU SPOKE WITH JEFF GORDON AFTER THE RACE. WHAT WAS THAT ABOUT? "We were just talking about vacation plans and stuff we're gonna do at the end of the year (grinning). He's a true champion of the sport and I just wanted to make sure that anything that we have go on on the race track that there are no issues and we get it all out in the air and, hopefully, we just kind of go forward."

HOW ABOUT YOU AND BOB TODAY? "It's cool to have Bob Osborne back. Really, we didn't know Bob was gonna be here until the truck had left, so Wally did a great job on the car is what I'm saying. Bob did a great job calling the race and it was fast all weekend. It's fun to race like that."
