DAVID RAGAN - No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion (Qualified 12th)
I think I probably left a little bit on the table. It was a good pickup, but I think we left a little bit on the table coming out of turn four. I was just a little bit free and had to roll out of the throttle. All in all, with this early of a draw I'm happy with the lap. If it will hold in the top 10 or 15, I think that will be a good starting spot. Our Fusion has good speed and it was a pretty good lap."
ARE YOU A GUY WHO HATES TO SEE THE SEASON END BECAUSE YOUR TEAM HAS PICKED IT UP QUITE A BIT THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. "Yeah, the last month we've run well - like we could have run all year, I think. It's good to have a little momentum. It's good that it's the end of the season and we have some fast cars that we can carry through the off-season, but I also wish we had four or five more races left. We'll just keep working hard and we've got two more to go, and hopefully we can make the best of it."
ARIC ALMIROLA - No. 9 Budweiser Ford Fusion (Qualified 9th)
That was a respectable lap time because I thought that was gonna be extremely slow. I was actually surprised at how fast it went for how bad it drove, to be honest. I'm proud of Kenny and all the guys on this Budweiser team. They've done a good job."
DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE PART OF THIS TEAM NOW AFTER THREE OR FOUR WEEKS BEHIND THE WHEEL? "Yeah, I really do. Kenny Francis and all the guys on this team do a good job of making me feel welcome, and I've had a lot of fun with it. That's the biggest thing I've noticed is how much fun I'm having. I don't have a whole lot of pressure involved with it, so it's been a good time."
GREG BIFFLE - No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Qualified 4th)
I just screwed up in three and four. The car was so good and it was hugging the bottom of the race track, so I just sneaked the gas pedal to it and I just got a little greedy and pushed it down a little bit more because it had grip. It just wasn't there. I bet I could have run a .35. I know that's what the pole is gonna be. The 43 just went to the top and I know the 99 is gonna be fast. I feel I just left a little too much out there. I'm just frustrated with myself. That was a great run for us, but I want to be perfect every time. I was probably trying to do something the car didn't want to do, obviously. It didn't want to go any faster and I was trying to make it, but you've got to make the most out of it."
AJ ALLMENDINGER - No. 43 Insignia/Best Buy Ford Fusion (Qualified 2nd) - "No matter what happens I'm just proud of everybody at Richard Petty Motorsports. There's no secret of what we're going through right now and it's a tough time. All the crew guys here and all the guys at the shop listening and watching, they're amazing people because it could easily tear this team apart. Everybody could be fighting with each other and not want to be here, but everybody is sticking together and fighting hard to go out there and perform. We've shown that, no matter what, it's not gonna get us off our game. We're just gonna keep getting better as a race team. I thank everybody at Insignia and Best Buy, Valvolina, PVA, everybody at Ford Racing and Doug Yates for building such great horsepower and everybody for building great race cars. That's all we can do, just go out there and drive."
IS THIS MORE MOTIVATION? "It's such a cut-throat sport. There's no secret to that. This is a tough sport and in tough times like that, we could easily give up or we could start fighting each other and it's not more motivation. We don't need anymore motivation than what we have, but it's just a tough time and these guys are fighting hard. I'm just going out there and trying to drive the wheels off this thing every weekend. These guys are stepping their game up and I'm proud of them. I'm proud to be here. We know The King and Robbie Loomis, all the guys, they're doing what they can to resolve these problems and we're just gonna put our heads down and do our jobs."
ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 19 Paralyzed Veterans of America Ford Fusion (Qualified 23rd)
I was a little disappointed. I didn't make a good lap. I didn't get through three and four like I needed to. My car was a little tight and I tried to run across the apron to loosen it up and got it a little bit too loose. That's definitely not the lap we wanted or needed, so we've got a lot of work to do on Sunday. We'll race hard and see where it takes us."
MATT KENSETH - No. 17 Valvoline Ford Fusion (Qualified 15th)
The car was probably a little better than me, so we've had a pretty good day today. Actually, we were pretty good in race trim and there was one mock-up qualifying run we were real fast in, but I probably didn't get the perfect lap. I thought I got most of it, but probably could have done a little better, so, overall, I'm happy with it because that's faster than we usually qualify. We should end up in the top 15, which will be good."
CARL EDWARDS - No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Qualified 1st)
That was a really good lap. Bob did a really good job. We were fastest in practice, but it was a 27.65, I think, and that lap was a 27.30 something, so the track picked up so much. I was really nervous that the handling would be different. Bob did a really good job, so it was a great lap."
A GOOD TRACK AS WELL FOR YOU. "This was the best circumstance we could have. We've got a great race car, I love the race track and we couldn't have done better with the draw. It's just a great day. Hopefully, it holds up for the pole. That would be great to get a track record. I don't know if I own any track records right now, so that would be nice."
SO YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF AN OPPORTUNITY. "Yeah, you've got to take advantage of them when they come. Opportunities like that don't come very often, so, hopefully, that holds up."
