Kasey Kahne (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger)
HOW WAS YOUR CAR IN PRACTICE TODAY? "Our Budweiser Dodge is getting better and better. We're really trying to focus our attention on how the car is handling. (The car) is real tight and then it gets loose, so we're trying to get a better balance so that it will go around the entire corner doing one thing rather than two or three."
AT TIMES THE DODGE CARS HAVE BEEN DOMINANT AND OTHER TIMES THEY HAVE BEEN INCONSISTENT...ANY IDEA OF HOW YOU CAN GET YOUR CAR MORE CONSISTENT? "I think the inconsistency is just the teams -- that's Gillett Evernham, Penske Racing. The Dodge car is similar to everything else out here. The inconsistency is in the teams. I just think that we (all the Dodge teams) have to keep working together and keep trying to get better and hopefully we'll get our Budweiser Dodge to where it needs to be."
IS THERE ANY PARTICULAR FOCUS THAT YOU AND KENNY FRANCIS (TEAM DIRECTOR, NO. 9 DODGE) HAVE IN CHANGES THAT YOU WANT TO MAKE LOOKING AHEAD TO 2009? "We just have to keep working on our cars. I think that our chassis are getting better. The way that we're building the cars are getting better. We just need to stay up with it. I have to do my job inside the car and continue to race my best all the time. I think that our team is great. When our stuff is right, we're one of the best teams in the garage, so that's good to know. When we're close (with our setup) we can win races and everybody knows it. We just have to be close more often."
Robby Gordon (No. 7 Jim Beam Operation Homefront Dodge Charger)
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE LAST TWO RACES? "I had a really good car at Texas and we lost it in practice -- we popped a right-front tire and our backup car wasn't as good. We gave up 45 points last weekend -- we had 105 (point lead on top-35 cars). This weekend we qualified 27th with another new racecar. We have two more new racecars coming to Homestead, so we're not giving up the fight by any means. I've got Jim Beam on the car for the next two races -- (Jim Beam) Operation Homefront on the hood this weekend and the car is pretty good. We stayed on one set of tires (in the first practice Saturday) the whole time working on long runs. Obviously the most important thing is to finish and if you finish, you're going to score enough points (to remain inside the top-35)."
DO YOU KEEP YOUR EYE PEELED ON SCOTT SPEED AND MARCOS AMBROSE OR DO YOU JUST CONCENTRATE ON YOUR STUFF? "I think you watch them (Speed and Ambrose). You have to race the cars that you're around at the same time. You have to be realistic about it. I think that we have a top-20 car. We were ahead of both of them in practice, so I feel pretty good about where we're at."
