Phoenix: Dodge teams race quotes

BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Cheerios Racing/Betty Crocker Dodge Charger) Finished 12th

"We really fought all night. I don't want to say that these cars don't drive good because they can drive better. My car just didn't drive good tonight, so I just don't want to piss Carl Edwards off. We just didn't do the best job that we could do. We came here and tested and were awful. For us to finish 16th ...we had fuel mileage there at the end. We had a lot of things going against us tonight but I'll take it."

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA (No. 42 Wrigley's Big Red Dodge Charger) Finished 16th

"I'm proud of the team. We really stepped it up this week and had such a better car. We kind of got lost in the middle of the race but came back strong in the end and got another top 20 finish. We'll take the points and try to keep gaining on the top 12 guys leading in the points."

SAM HORNISH JR., (No 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger) Finished 20th

"It was rough for sure but we didn't have that great of a car but we just kind of did what we needed to do today. We adjusted on it and made it better and looking at the scoreboard there to be the top finishing of the teammates that's the first time that's ever happened. I've got to look at that and be a little bit happy. I know that Kurt and Ryan both had problems today and it didn't work out that good but even that can make me feel a little bit better right now. I was just real happy. I've said in the past that we didn't feel like we were keeping up with the track. We were tight at the beginning and we couldn't make enough adjustments to keep it from getting more tight. Today we kind of kept up with the track. We didn't go on the good side but we kept up with the track so I was real happy with that. Hopefully we'll build on this and continue to move forward and get some better finishes in the future."

ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 Menards/MAPEI Dodge Charger) Finished 29th

"We ran out of gas with three laps to go. I had enough (gas) to coast around pit row and get some gas in it. What a bummer. We really had a good car. We just qualified like crap and that hurt. If we can work on qualifying, it's going to help. I ran with the top seven guys all night long. My qualifying effort sucked and I have to work on that and we'll be fine."

PATRICK CARPENTIER (No. 10 LifeLock Dodge Charger) Finished 32nd

"I'm really happy. I'm not happy where we finished. We raced a lot harder than we ever did this year and finished further back. But I'm happy because I'm starting to run with the guys. I stayed there on the restarts and I really stepped it up this weekend after the qualifying and practice yesterday. For me I really made an improvement in the race and that's all that counts. Everybody is coming together. I made a few mistakes in the pits with the speeding there. I don't know what happened. I was honest to God way below 4,700 [rpms] but we got caught speeding somewhere. I think the LifeLock team did really good so we're improving."

DARIO FRANCHITTI (No. 41 Wrigley's Dodge Charger) Finished 33rd

"Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you're unlucky and tonight we got unlucky. We came to pit road about three laps before that yellow came out and that put us an extra lap down and that was that. We were two laps down instead of being one. We were running top-15 times pretty much all night but we just got put those two laps down and that was it. Really proud of the team; really, really proud of the team and the job they've done this week coming back, the way they worked qualifying. Three cars on the team came together and really helped us out and that's what we need. We keep doing this and we'll be going forward. We're closer to the top-35 than we were going in. We can qualify Talladega and we'll just keep on pushing. These guys did a good job adjusting on it. The track was changing and we were keeping up with it. As I say I just did what I could. Frustrating with that yellow coming out but there's definitely been times in my career that I've had yellows come out at the right time so we'll just go to Talladega like I say. We'll do some testing between now and then and it's a really good team effort this week."

KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) Finished 36th

"We had a brake problem. I don't know what it was, but I would lift off the brakes (pedal) and the rear brakes would stay on and suck the car wherever it wanted to. It sucked me right into the wall. We were definitely better than what we have been, so that is a good thing. We have a lot of potential."

ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge Charger) Finished 41st

"We lost something in the engine. I'm not sure what really happened. It's a shame. This Stanley Tools Dodge was the best car that we've had all year. I was riding out front in the top 10 and just trying to make it to the end. I feel sorry for my guys; they worked their butts off on pit stops and gave me good track position. It just wasn't meant to be tonight. I like this new race car. It qualified good and felt good tonight. It gives us some high hopes going to Darlington.

"It's just typical Phoenix. It's great racing. You can use the bottom. You can use the top. This Car of Tomorrow is still a little aero-tight and aero-push as compared to what we use to have. It's going to be a good race to the end. Track position is very, very important. It seemed like the first three or four cars can break away. It will come down to pit strategy and track position at the end. Hopefully Kasey (Kahne) can make some good calls and be there in the end."

REED SORENSON (No. 41 Target Dodge Charger) Finished 42nd

"That previous caution, you could see the car that blew the engine way in front of us smoking and everybody kinda lifted. I thought we were good and the next thing I knew we got hit really hard from behind. I don't know who hit us, but it spun us around and the 17 came in there and got into the left front a little bit. We had a little damage there and then ended up blowing a tire and hitting the wall after that. That ended our night."

RYAN NEWMAN (No. 12 Alltel Dodge Charger) Finished 43rd

"We lost a front seal. It's the same thing that happened to us in Bristol. It's disappointing. That's two times in the first eight races that we had the same problem. Our engine company needs to get their stuff together."

DID YOU HAVE ANY WARNING THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO LET GO? "No. The motor still runs fine. It just pumps oil out the front-end and it gets on the headers and smokes real bad. I apologize what I did to the race track, but that's all I had to work with."
