SUBJECT: DAVE MARCIS - UPDATE
Finally I have a little time to get back on the bb. I will update you on Phoenix and then some things happening around here. Phoenix qualifying was a little different. Usually we are looking at the sky to see if it is going to rain or how cloudy it is. But out there, we had the cars on the line to qualify and you could see this dust storm marching along off in the distance. By the time qualifying was supposed to start, it was there and you wouldn't believe the dust! Qualifying got postponed and we we going one round the next day. We had a decent lap but with only one lap you can't afford to get messed up because there is no second round. We ran about what we did in practice but it was conservative We had a good position when I ran it but the other guys were beating us by a hundreth here and there and we got pushed back to 38th. That's okay considering the provisionals and it is a long way back to NC if you didn't make it. As far as the race we ran fair. We finished 24th. The car wasn't too bad or too great. There were a lot of green flag pit stops and I had a bad set of tires the last time in. All in all we came out of there okay and in one piece. Last Wednesday we went down to test at Atlanta. Our semi-tractor broke down on the way down there and when we finally go to test after a couple of last we blew our motor. I went over to the Freightliner dealer in Atlanta where they towed the tractor and jumped under there and fixed our problems to get it back on the road home. It took a while and we didn't get back here until about midnight. The next morning I left at 6:00am to go to Knoxville to open the new NASCAR Thunder souvenir store at the mall there. These are really nice places and they did a nice job with the design. We got back here about 6:00 pm. The next moring 6:00am I was on a plane to Daytona to test for Childress Fri-Sunday. The test went pretty good. We are trying to figure out where we stand with the new quarter panel height rules. NASCAR has definately slowed the cars down. So as you can see I am pretty much on the go and that's why I don't get on here as much as I would like to. As far as sponsorship......we're still waiting. Prodigy hasn't committed. We have a couple of things in the works so I think we will be all right we just have to see how everything pans out in the end. I was plannning on talking about the off season but I have to go decide how to hang this body on our Daytona car so I will save that until after Atlanta.
