Dave Blaney after the First Day at the Homestead-Miami Speedway Goodyear Tire Test:
"On the first couple of runs, the cords were visible and the track was slippery," said Blaney. "As the day went on, we picked up a second and one half. It is hard to see what it will be like with 43 cars running together, but it was good altogether. There will be at least two grooves of racing when we come back."
Blaney Talks as a Track Owner/Promoter: Blaney understands the necessity of track improvements to impress the fans and keep them coming back.
"The fans will love it," said Blaney after the first day at the Goodyear tire test. "It is so different than any other track we run on. It's not like what we have all called the cookie cutter tracks. It should be a good race."
Jasper Engines and Transmissions/Crisis Connection Strategic Alliance Update:
Congratulations to Crisis Connection, Inc. who through a joint effort with Jasper Engines and Transmissions raised $6700 to continue efforts for comprehensive, community-based services for the survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their families. Crisis Connection, Inc. provides free, professional and confidential services to the residents of Crawford, Dubois, Orange, Perry and Spencer Counties in rural southwestern Indiana, and maintains offices in Dubois, Perry and Spencer Counties.
The original plan was to adorn the deck lid of the No. 77 Winston Cup entry at Phoenix International Raceway with the names of individuals and companies who donated funds during the month of October, Domestic Violence Awareness Month. With 267 names, the Jasper Engines and Transmissions Racing Team was forced to split the group in two and carry over into Rockingham.
