MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 19, 1999) Paul Andrews had served as crew chief since December 1997 for car owner Michael Kranefuss, left. Peter Sospenzo will head the competition side of Penske-Kranefuss Racing starting with The Winston this weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway, following the release of crew chief Paul Andrews, team co-owner Michael Kranefuss announced Wednesday morning.

Sospeno, 42, a veteran crew chief, joined Penske-Kranefuss Racing in December, 1997. He has been serving as car chief.

He replaces Andrews, who had served as crew chief since December 1997. Andrews, who was the late Alan Kulwicki's crew chief in his 1992 NASCAR Winston Cup Series championship season, led driver Jeremy Mayfield to his only NASCAR Winston Cup Series victory, last season at Pocono, Pa.

"We are grateful for Paul's contributions and wish him the best in the future," Kranefuss said.
