JOHNNY SAUTER, NO. 70 YELLOW TRANSPORTATION /HAAS MONTE CARLO SS, STARTED 20TH, FINISHED SECOND:
"I thought I had him. Carl Edwards looked like he was getting real loose; we ended up going three-wide. The outside groove just has a lot more momentum. I am very very, proud of Team Yellow. This is the car I condemned at the test and we decided to bring it here this weekend incase it got wrecked. Now I don't know for sure which one is good. All in all, a good night. So far, so good, I am just happy we are moving on. I told the guys not to make any changes to the car. We will start there. We have a long race with these segments coming up so we can make some adjustments it will be all good.
"Yeah, I didn't think we could really do this. The car was very, very loose all weekend and we tested this car and it was very loose. (Crew chief, Robert) "Bootie" (Barker) told me it was going to be okay and I condemned it. So I'm just very, very happy with the Yellow Monte Carlo. It's unbelievable. I thought I had (Martin) Truex and the No. 99 (Edwards) got really loose. He was obviously very loose at the end and I lost a little momentum. But I'm just tickled to death. Everything is good."
KENNY WALLACE, NO. 78 FURNITURE ROW RACING MONTE CARLO SS, WINNER FAN VOTE TO START ALL-STAR CHALLENGE:
"I think I heard the fans yell. That is awesome. We really wanted to race hard in the Open, but they were wrecking so much there, we thought our percentages were better to go with the fan vote. I don't think we could run with those guys up front. We tried to stay back out of the way and then we started catching them easily.
"I want to thank all the fans, my wife and everybody that put us this. It is a big event, it is a fun night and I am really excited."
JEFF GREEN, NO. 66 BEST BUY MONTE CARLO SS, STARTED 15TH, FINISHED 12TH:
"We seemed to have the odds stacked against us today. We got spun out, and NASCAR told us to drop in behind the (No.) 55 car (in the running order). I didn't think that was right, since I hadn't seen the 55 all night. We waited for them to review the tape, and we ended up getting behind the 55. Then they told us we had to drop to the end of the line for not following NASCAR's orders. I always thought you were allowed to hold your position until the review is complete, but I guess that's not the case. After that, we just had too much ground to make up and not enough laps to do it. Congratulations to Johnny (Sauter) and the (No.) 70 guys, though. It's great to have Haas represented in the Challenge."
