Biffle's Crew Takes Michigan Honors

While Greg Biffle celebrated victory Sunday at Michigan International Speedway so did his pit crew, which finished first in the McDonald's Drive-Thru Pit Championship fueled by POWERade.

It was the third time this season the No. 16 National Guard crew took home the $20,000 weekly prize. The other No. 1 finishes were at Darlington and the August Pocono race.

After 23 races, the reigning McDonald's/POWERade championship crew for Dale Earnhardt Jr. leads the chase for the $200,000 season-ending bonus with 827 points. Elliott Sadler's crew is second with 817 points and lurking in third is Tony Stewart's crew with 811 points.

Biffle's National Guard/The Flash Ford spent 228.417 seconds on pit road 0x2022 edging Robby Gordon's No. 31 Cingular Chevrolet's time of 229.287. Joe Nemechek's No. 01 U.S. Army Chevy was third at 235.513.

Biffle's over-the-wall crew consists of Adam Emmert (front-tire changer), Jeff Silver (front-tire carrier), Mike Hillman (rear-tire changer), TJ Hamilton (rear-tire carrier), Jeff Merkel (jackman), Donnie Ratledge (gasman), John Eicher (catch can).

"I think it's deserving for the day they all had," said crew chief Doug Richert. "It made for a perfect day. Not only were they rewarded with the race win, they got the McDonalds / POWERade pit crew challenge award to go with it. They averaged under 14 seconds per stop, which is a pretty good day."
