DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 17, 2006) -- Following Tuesday's test session for next month's Daytona 500, Joe Nemechek said he continues to be pleased with the performance of his U.S. Army Chevrolet.

Nemechek posted the second fastest speed during the morning session at Daytona International Speedway and was eighth fastest in the afternoon. His morning speed was 185.288 miles per hour and the best lap in the afternoon was 185.874.

"By the time the afternoon session started we felt pretty good about the baseline we had established and thought it was time to start experimenting with different setups," said Nemechek. "We learned a lot today and feel real good about coming back here next month.

Nemechek was fourth fastest in Monday's opening session, and his MB2 teammate Sterling Marlin also ranked in the top 10 both days.

"Once again the MB2 engineering and fabrication departments have built stout superspeedway cars,"

The majority of the 34 Nextel Cup teams testing this week will use a good portion of Wednesday's final day of testing for drafting practice on the 2.5-mile tri-oval.

"We might use part of the morning session in qualifying trim and then change over to race trim conditions," explained Nemechek. "I'm looking forward to the draft - it might be a little tense at times, but it's also plenty of fun."
