NASCAR issues penalties following Tuesday inspections in Concord
Drivers and teams from all three NASCAR national series receive penalties for various infractions following races last weekend at two different race tracks.
Following weekly post-race inspections, NASCAR announced several post-race penalties involving competitors from all three NASCAR national series competing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Kentucky Speedway from last weekend.
None of the penalties this week involved any drivers/teams that are participating in the NASCAR playoffs.
Mike Bugarewicz, crew chief of the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Fusion driven by Clint Bowyer in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, was fined $10,000 after a loose lug nut was discovered during post-race inspection at New Hampshire following Sunday’s race.
Randall Burnett was issued an L1 penalty for post-race rear body inspection height violation that was outside allowed tolerances. He serves as crew chief of the No. 2 Chevrolet fielded by Richard Childress Racing and was driven by Ben Kennedy Saturday night at Kentucky.
Burnett was fined $10,000 and suspended from this weekend’s Xfinity race at Dover International Speedway. Kennedy, who’s 11th-place finish was also ruled encumbered, will also suffer a penalty of 10 driver points and car owner Richard Childress will loss 10 owner points.
Kevin Manion, who served as crew chief of the No. 51 truck at Kyle Busch Motorsports, was fined $5,000 and suspended from this weekend’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race in Las Vegas.
Manion was given an L1 penalty for failure to ensure the rear brake cooling assembly was sealed from the air inlet to the exhaust.
