NASCAR issues P3 level penalties to No. 98 team

Premium Motorsports has been penalized for an unattached weight at Indianapolis.

NASCAR has come down hard on the Premium Motorsports No. 98 team, whose rough weekend at Indianapolis just got worse. Timmy Hill piloted the car to a 41st place finish after crashing during practice on Friday.

Now, NASCAR has levied penalties against the small operation for an unattached weight that came loose during practice.

The violation warrants a P3 level penalty, according to series officials. Crew chief Scott Eggleston has been fined $25,000. Both he and car chief Kevin Eagle have been issued a one-race suspension and will not be present at Pocono. They will also be on probation until the end of the calendar year.

The team has also lost 15 owner points, but driver Timmy Hill does not score points at the Cup level (choosing Trucks prior to the season) and so, no driver points were deducted.
