NASCAR forbids Chase-eligible drivers from participating in tire test at Homestead

NASCAR has put some special rules in place for the upcoming Goodyear tire test.

A Goodyear tire test planned for August 26th has been rescheduled for September 9th. This is no ordinary tire test however. It will take place at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the season finale for all three of NASCAR's national divisions.

Because of this, NASCAR has decided to forbid any Chase eligible drivers from partaking in the test to ensure that they don't gain any unfair advantage over their advesaries. All Sprint Cup organizations represented in the Chase will be allowed to participate in the tire test, but they must use a different driver.

Team Penske is the only team so far that has their entire roster already locked into the Chase, so having to resort to drivers outside of their normal Sprint Cup lineup is a bit of an inconvenience for them.
