Happy 39th Birthday Kevin Lepage Tuesday, June 26th
Kevin Lepage, driver of the No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo, qualified solid in the field for his third visit to the 2 mile road course in the California Wine Country. The Morgan-McClure team now has a provisional starting position to fall back on, if needed. The next provisional is obtained following a qualifying attempt at Bristol Motor Speedway in August.
Expectations were high for at least a top-15 finish in the 112 lap event following productive practice sessions on Saturday.
Scott Eggleston served as crew chief for the team for the second week. He visited the Morgan-McClure facility on Monday, meeting shop personnel for the first time.
Engine failure on lap 2 of the first of two visits to road courses played culprit for the teamâ^À^Ùs early departure from the track. The expired engine was the first of the 2001 season for Morgan-McClure.
The next stop on the circuit, following a much anticipated weekend off, will be Daytona International Speedway.
Morgan-McClure has a total of five Winston Cup victories at the 2.5 mile oval. Three of those victories include the coveted Daytona 500 trophy, while the other two were wins in the Pepsi 400.
Scott Eggleston was the winning crew chief for the 2001 Daytona 500.
Donna Lepage will be featured on an upcoming hour long show on MSNBC for her contributions to NASCAR racing as a Winston Cup wife and a spotter.
