Morgan-McClure Motorsports took a gamble on a new race car in Darlington on Labor Day weekend. Magic the team was hoping to find never occurred with the new equipment.
Morgan-McClure Motorsports will focus on competing in the upcoming Chevrolet Monte Carlo 400 at Richmond International Raceway. The team will try another new racecar for the event.
The No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo has accumulated six top-15's at the .75 mile track since 1994. Lepage's best Winston Cup start at Richmond is 15th on September 9, 2000. His best Winston Cup finish there is 13th on May 15, 1999. In the spring race, Morgan-McClure started the race 27th and finished 27th.
Did you know from 1990 to 1999, the average finish in championship points for Morgan-McClure Motorsports was 11th?
Kevin Lepage, driver No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo, quotes
"I like Richmond. My statistics do not show the good runs I have had at the track in both Winston Cup and Busch. Mechanical failures have resulted in finishes that were not indicative of the competition I have enjoyed on the track. If there is a track that owes me something as a driver, I would have to say it is Richmond.
"This will be a great opportunity for the Kodak MAX Film team to run good in their home state. I will be focusing my undivided attention on the Winston Cup effort this weekend.
"Darlington was a disappointment for me and the team. It is one of my best tracks. Morgan-McClure has a win and several top-10's there. We could not turn the effort around all weekend. We had a new car, but it never hooked up.
"Richmond creates an electric atmosphere. We are hoping for another good run like we had a Bristol there."
