Bickle talks about driving No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo at Martinsville
Rich Bickle, a 40 year old Edgerton, Wisc., native, will pilot the No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo in the upcoming Old Dominion 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Bickle, who began his NASCAR Winston Cup career in 1989, has raced All-pro cars, trucks and Cup cars at the .526 mile track.
Morgan-McClure will test at Caraway on Thursday in preparation for a return to Martinsville, where the team enjoyed their last pole and win in 1998. This weekend will mark Bickle's first time in the Morgan-McClure Motorsports entry.
Rich Bickle quotes
"The opportunity to step into the No. 4 Kodak Film Monte Carlo is great. To do so at one of my favorite tracks is even better. I have had much success over the years racing at Martinsville while competing in All-pro, the truck series and Winston Cup.
"Several years ago, we went up and sat on the pole in the truck and won the race. I realize the team needs a good qualifying run and I intend to give it my best shot.
"I do not know Larry McClure very well, but I appreciate him giving me a chance to get into his car. I would like to step back over to the Winston Cup side of the fence. Last year, several opportunities opened up, but I chose to go back to the Busch Series to try to have some fun.
"We are hoping this deal will have positive results for me and for the team. Maybe we can open some eyes with a good performance.
"Martinsville is a track that takes some finesse to drive. I have never been hard on the brakes, so I can drive the track using the brakes and not burn them up. It kind of reminds me of a little track I raced on in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin."
