In six starts with Morgan-McClure Motorsports, Hamilton, Jr., has posted two top-15 finishes: Talladega (14th) and Atlanta (15th).
The Morgan-McClure Motorsports crew and Bobby Hamilton, Jr., were pleased to nail a 29th starting position out of 51 cars attempting to make the field for the NAPA 500. In his 11th start in NASCAR Winston Cup, Bobby Hamilton, Jr., has not failed to qualify for an event.
The No. 4 KODAK MAX Film Monte Carlo advanced into the top-15 midway through the 35th event of the season. Hamilton, Jr., piloted the Chevrolet in the top-20 for most of the day.
Morgan-McClure Motorsports' rear tire changer, Jimmy Bender, wore a helmet during pit stops on Sunday. Although he had used the helmet years ago, he quit wearing it. In the wake of recent pit road accidents, he practiced pit stops at the shop with the safety equipment on and opted to wear it during the race.
Hamilton, Jr., a 23 year-old Tennessee native, will race at New Hampshire this weekend. It will be his first NASCAR Winston Cup race at the 1.05 mile oval. In the 5-12-01 Busch Grand National event, Hamilton, Jr., started 11th and finished 7th. In 2000, during the Grand National competition, he started 23rd and completed the race 11th.
