Mike Skinner, No. 31 Lowe's Chevrolet Monte Carlo - (Comment from Richard Childress, owner of RCR, on Skinner's condition after he crashed on lap 22 due to a right front flat tire): "He's awake and alert but he is a little sore around his shoulders and neck. They are going to transport him to the local hospital in Joliet (Provena St. Joseph Medical Center) for a precautionary CT scan."
Steve Park, No. 1 Pennzoil Chevrolet Monte Carlo (sidelined on lap 136 when he hit the wall in turn 4 due to with motor problems): "We're just lucky we didn't go into the wall really. We just didn't need this string of bad luck that we've had. We were hoping to start the second half of the season on a better note than this."
Jerry Nadeau, No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevrolet Monte Carlo (notified crew on lap 111 that he wasn't feeling well): "I'm sick as a dog. It's my stomach. In every corner it feels like it's going to fall out of the race car."
Jeff Green, No. 30 AOL Chevrolet Monte Carlo (sidelined on lap 245 due to motor problems): "Something happened to the motor. They try real hard to make all the power they can. The AOL Chevrolet was pretty good. We just kept getting track position and got up there with those guys and raced them. I don't know where we're going to end up, but I think we'll be close to the top 10. And that's going to be a good day for us. Of a 400 mile race, I think we made it about 380."
Robbie Loomis, crew chief, No. 24 Dupont Chevrolet Monte Carlo: "Looks like we lost a cylinder. It's unfortunate, but we'll just have to come back next week and do better. You're going to have some races that are not so great, and we've had a couple in a row now. So next week will be better."
Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Dupont Chevrolet Monte Carlo: "I'm just thrilled to beat Todd (Bodine). We were outrunning him on the racetrack, but it was a tough day. We fought hard today to get from way back there in the field to the front. All we needed was a little bit better track position. We had one of the fastest cars out there. I'm real proud of these guys with the Dupont race team. We've got to figure it out and make sure it doesn't happen any more. We're going through a tough time now, but as long as we're tied for th points lead, we'll take that.
"I'm looking forward to Loudon and to every track we race at. But right now, I'm going to focus on our test session in Indianapolis coming up on Monday and Tuesday. And then we'll gear up. The guys at the shop are working hard getting us ready for New Hampshire. We've got to do something there. We've got to make up a little bit of the ground that we lost here."
