Marlin Finishes 20th in Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 17, 2007) -- Though a late race pit stop for fuel cost Sterling Marlin track position, the Ginn Racing driver still came away with a 20th-place finish in Sunday's Nextel Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.

"It was a weird day," said Marlin. "We had a fast racecar, but couldn't catch a break with being on the right pit cycle. I truly felt we had a top-10 car, but we didn't close the deal."

Marlin drove a patient race early and jumped into the top 10 when crew chief Slugger Labbe called for two right-side tires on Lap 68 of 200. Marlin even found himself at times running in the top five.

"No question, we had the machine," offered Marlin. "We did show that we can run up front. If we can catch a few breaks that's where we'll be finishing in future races."

Marlin gained two spots in the driver point standings and currently sits in 25th place after the 15th of 36 races.
