MIS NEXTEL Cup Tickets on Sale Saturday, February 12; Renovation Project Reaches New Heights.
BROOKLYN, Mich. -- With the largest renovation in the history of the track underway and exciting enhancements to the race weekend schedule, the 2005 season will be one of the most anticipated seasons in the history of Michigan International Speedway. Fans wanting to be a part of this year's action at MIS will need to mark Saturday, February 12, on their calendars, as tickets to both NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series events will be available to the general public.
Tickets to both NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series events at Michigan International Speedway, the June 19 Michigan 400 and the August 21 GFS Marketplace 400, will go on sale at 8:00 AM EST on Saturday, February 12, at MIS' newly redesigned official website, www.MISpeedway.com, or by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010. In addition to tickets being available at www.MISpeedway.com 24 hours a day, seven days a week, starting February 12, the MIS ticket hotline will be open from 9 A.M. until 9 P.M. seven days a week for fan's convenience.
"We've been fortunate to have the support of great fans over the years as we've sold out 28 straight NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series races," said MIS President Brett Shelton. "But 2005 is a new year and we again need the support of the fans. The combination of a new schedule, which adds more racing to our weekends, plus the fantastic renovations, should make 2005 an exciting year for everyone."
With NEXTEL Cup tickets on sale February 12, it's a great opportunity for fans to purchase tickets to Friday and Saturday events in June and August. MIS has added even more racing for 2005, which includes three races on each NEXTEL Cup Series weekend, including the first June NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at MIS, and two ARCA RE/MAX Series visits on Friday in June and August. Additionally Saturdays have added excitement with NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series qualifying and races featuring the NASCAR Busch Series in August and the aforementioned Craftsman Truck Series race in June.
The changes will give fans more racing than ever before and also provide a great value for fans. Also, for the fourth consecutive year, children 12 and under will be free once again on Friday's and Saturday's.
Renovation Project reaching new heights:
Anyone who has driven past Michigan International Speedway lately will notice an exciting new look, as the largest renovation project in the history of MIS is starting to take shape. The elevator shaft has been erected, and the Champions Club seating level and suites are being constructed, along with plenty of work on the future Motorsports Fan Plaza. The project is expected to be completed prior to the season-opening weekend at MIS on June 17-19, featuring the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA RE/MAX Series.
The renovation project includes a reconfiguration of the frontstretch area into an exciting Motorsports Fan Plaza, which will include new ticket gates, new vendor and display areas, several new concession stands, and a new suite/club structure high above the main grandstand near the start/finish line. A new suite/press box structure will hold 16 suites, press box, 870 Champions Club seats, timing & scoring area, television and radio broadcast area, and race control for use by the sanctioning bodies.
Also on February 12, along with options to purchase tickets and camping at MIS, Champions Club seats will also be available for purchase. The club seating level will sit high above the existing grandstands at the start/finish line. The amenities of the Champions Club include twenty-inch wide outdoor seats with in-seat waiter service, and access to an indoor entertainment area. The indoor area includes access to the club via elevator, an air-conditioned dining area, private restrooms, and lounge area with several food and beverages options.
"We're excited about the progress of renovation project and we can't wait for them to complete the new Champions Club," said MIS Director of Ticketing John Moreland. "While we have a limited number of Champions Club seats available for both NEXTEL Cup Series races, we will also have options for great grandstand seats as well as some very popular camping options."
While tickets go on sale for both NEXTEL Cup Series races on Saturday, February 12, tickets to all other events, which include the IRL IndyCar Series, NASCAR Busch Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA/REMAX Series are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at MIS' newly redesigned website, www.MISpeedway.com, or by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010.
