STATESVILLE, N.C -- Reed Sorenson, driver of the No. 43 Dodge, heads to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) this weekend with a new sponsor, Reynolds Wrap, on the hood of the famous No. 43.
The 23-year old Georgia driver has been racing consistently in the top-20 over the majority of the last 10 races, but would love to add a second top-10 finish to his 2009 results while visiting the two-mile oval in Brooklyn, Michigan.
ON DOUBLE FILE RESTARTS: "Last week at Pocono I wasn't really sure what to expect with the double file restarts, but now having done it for a week I think it's something that is going to be great for our sport. It makes it more exciting for the fans and makes it much racier for the drivers. It gives you a chance to really race for position in a way that we couldn't given the old system with lap down cars on the inside. Overall I think it's the best thing we've done as a sport in quite a while for the fans."
ON RECENT ON-TRACK PERFORMANCE: "We had some pretty good race cars lately. If you take a look at the last seven points races the No. 43's been pretty competitive, and not just on the No. 43 team, but all the cars at Richard Petty Motorsports. I've finished 20th or better in six of the last seven races, and what makes that more amazing is where I've started in some of those races. You put that with how the No. 9, No. 19 and No. 43 teams have been racing and I'd say we've made some pretty big strides. Our qualifying was great at Dover and at Pocono our team had a great 199 laps as a team, but that last lap kind of bit us pretty good and we didn't get the finishes that our team really deserved."
