Paul Menard on Michigan International Speedway: "I know we've got a good car for this weekend in Michigan. It's our Charlotte car and we've been pretty happy with the way it responds to changes. The track changes a bit during the race so it's important we have a good baseline after practice Saturday and then we can just fine tune it come Sunday.
"We're running the new Ford FR9 engine this week so we're excited to see how that helps us. My teammate AJ Allmendinger has run it several times and the results have seemed pretty good. Michigan is a horsepower track, so providing we don't have any issues with it and there haven't been thus far, it should benefit all of the Ford teams at a place like Michigan."
Crew Chief Slugger Labbe's Thoughts on Michigan: "Michigan is a track where not a lot of action happens, but there's a lot of racing. Cautions are rare, so it comes down to fuel mileage a lot of times. I was fortunate to win a race there in 2005 on fuel mileage. But, you've got to handle well there too. What happens is as the race goes on the track gets rubbered up and the cars get looser off the corners, so you really have to guard against that and prepare for that in practice on Saturday.
"We're taking the same car we had at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in the 600. We've run that car three times this year and we've got some really good notes on it. We know what the car likes. We just feel confident using this car because we know what to expect and what to do for changes. Hopefully we can get our car decent Saturday and then tighten it up for the race, since it typically gets loose as the race wears on."
Chassis History: Crew chief Slugger Labbe and the No. 98 Richard Petty Motorsports crew have prepared chassis No. 683 for this weekend's event. This is the same Ford Fusion the team utilized in both events at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway last month. Menard drove to an eighth-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600.
Notes: This weekend will be another busy one for Paul Menard. Menard is racing full-time in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series and will travel back and forth between Brooklyn, Mich. and Kentucky Speedway.
