MICHIGAN SPEEDWAY DEVILBISS 400
"I wasn't pleased with our finish last weekend because it didn't show how good the car was for the race," said Andy Petree, car owner/crew chief for the Skoal Bandit Racing Chevrolet. "We ran around the top 10 the entire race until we had trouble in turn one. Kenny battled as hard as he could and gained as many positions as possible, but we ran out of laps in the race. Kenny is the core of this team and he continues to show it week in and week out."
The Skoal Bandit Racing team will utilize "Black Bart" who was a famous California stagecoach robber. It is the same car they competed with in the Miller Lite 400 at Michigan Speedway in June. It also competed at California and Darlington this year.
"When we raced here in June, we had a good run going until the air wrench broke on the first pit stop," Schrader said. "Andy had to change all four tires and lost a lap -- in fact, almost two. After that, we knew it'd be tough to win, but we also knew we had a good car. We're bringing the same car back this weekend. The team is pumped and we're going for the win." Ken Schrader will pull double duty this weekend driving the No. 52 Oakwood Homes Chevrolet in the Pepsi 200 on Saturday. Schrader has three top-10 finishes in four starts at Michigan Speedway in the Busch Series.
While Schrader is running the Busch race on Saturday, Petree will celebrate his 40th birthday.
Ken Schrader will sign autographs at Polly's Sports Bar in Jackson, Mich., on Friday, Aug. 14 from 7-9 p.m.
