FROM THE NO. 54 NATIONAL GUARD COCKPIT: DRIVER TODD BODINE
YOU HAD A GOOD RUN GOING AT MICHIGAN BEFORE YOU HAD THE AIR TAKEN OFF THE CAR AND CRASHED. ARE YOU GLAD TO GET A SECOND SHOT AT IT?
"Yes. It's always nice to go back and revisit a track that you know you have a decent race set up that's very competitive. Last time was a real heartbreaker for us since we had worked our way up to 10th place after starting in the back. With 10 laps to go, I had the air taken of my car and I crashed. I really want another crack at it because I think we have something for them."
"Our qualifying program isn't where we want it to be right now. We've really struggled this season and I'm not sure why. Last go around at this track was tough for us. We had to take a provisional. So, I'd like to see that pressure taken off of us with a good qualifying effort. If we can do that I think we'll be in good shape. If we find ourselves in a similar position of having to race our way through traffic, then we'll have to be real careful not to overdrive the car. That's easier said than done. My plans are to race with the leaders from the start rather than race my way up through the field to reach them."
"What I like about Michigan is you can really work the race track. Early on, I was fortunate enough to find a groove to run that I really liked. It turned out to be a really fast line. I watched a lot of teams struggle to find a good line. Jimmie Johnson was one of them. I could easily run him down because he couldn't find the line that worked for him. I'm hoping to pick up where I left off."
