STATESVIILE, N.C. -- Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge have a million more reasons to win this weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway. Stanley Tools will make a $1 million donation to the Children's Miracle Network if he wins the 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup race at MIS.
The incentive is part of the "Racing for a Miracle" program created by Stanley Tools, the Ace Hardware Foundation, and Children's Miracle Network. "Racing for a Miracle" benefits sick and injured kids as well as hospitals across the country.
As part of "Racing for a Miracle," Sadler will visit Sparrow Hospital, the Children's Miracle Network area hospital in Lansing, Mich. on Thursday. He will race remote control cars with young patients, sign autographs, tour the hospital and present a special miracle child with an award for winning a helmet design contest.
The No. 19 Stanley Tools Dodge will carry the logos of Children's Miracle Network and Ace Hardware will adorn the TV panel for one race only to encourage others to continue to raise money for sick and injured kids.
Talk about the track itself: "Michigan is a multi-groove race track, which makes it fun because it allows everyone to move around and find the best line. That makes it fun for the fans because they get to see a lot of side-by-side racing. I have a pretty good qualifying record at Michigan, but haven't had the results we deserved during the race. We have a lot on the line this weekend with the $1 million on the line and we are racing all out for the win."
Talk about racing for $1 million charitable donation: "This may be one of the biggest races of my life. Stanley Tools is putting $1 million on the line for a win -- talk about incentive. A win this weekend would mean a lot to a lot of people. I get to meet some of the kids from the Children's Miracle Network hospital in Lansing, Mich. this week and then I am going to go out on Sunday and do my best to deliver a big win for everyone involved. I'm honored that Stanley Tools allows us to be a part of such a special program."
Chassis Info: The No. 19 team will use GEMS #256; last raced in the Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. GEMS #233, last race in the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, will serve as the backup.
Sadler at MIS: In 19 previous races, has earned one outside pole with seven top-10 starts. Has one top-five and four top-10 finishes while leading three races for 22 laps. Completion rate is 93.5% making 3450 of 3691 laps.
