SADLER LOOKS FOR TOP-10 REPEAT AT MICHIGAN
CHARLOTTE, NC (August 16, 2005) -- Elliott Sadler, driver of the Pedigree Ford Taurus, returns to Michigan International Speedway for the second race of the 2005 season this weekend for the GFS Marketplace 400. The Virginia native is coming off his best career finish at Watkins Glen International, 12th, and has moved to within three points of the 10 car field for the Chase for the Championship.
Sadler has posted only one top-10 finish since leaving Michigan in June when he finished eighth in the M&M'S Ford Taurus. Needless to say the month of July is one that Sadler and the #38 Team would rather forget with only one finish inside the top-20 and two outside of the top-35, moving Sadler from third to 12th in the point standings.
But if there is a track that Robert Yates Racing considers a second home, it is Michigan. Not only is it the site of teammate Dale Jarrett's first win in 1991, it also has been the track where team owner Robert Yates has visited victory lane six times. In addition, crew chief Todd Parrott has three wins and two poles to his credit at the two mile facility. Sadler looks to clinch his third top-10 and seventh RYR win at the track this Sunday.
Quoting M&M'S® Driver Elliott Sadler:
"We had a good race last weekend, especially considering how our weekend started. It was what this team along with the driver needed. July was a tough month for us and then the Brickyard ended on a very disappointing note so it's nice to go to a track that feel like home for this organization. Robert has had success there, Dale has had success there, Todd has had success there and Ford has been very successful so I think I've got the best group of guys in my corner come Sunday."
"It's an important four races we have coming up, obviously these four control the fate of our season so we're excited about the tracks ahead of us. We've had recent success at all of them. We've got a great team and great cars to take to each track to work our way back into the Chase."
