Sadler and McDonald's Big Mac Dodge to Attack Michigan
STATESVIILE, N.C. -- Elliott Sadler and the No. 19 Dodge team will make people in the Michigan International Speedway NASCAR garage and grandstands very hungry this weekend when they roll by them.
Sporting the familiar McDonald's orange and yellow colors, the car has a very visual Big Mac theme to their paint scheme. (photo attached) If looking at the car doesn't make people hungry, they at least might hum the familiar Big Mac jingle.
One group looking for something big at MIS is the No. 19 Dodge team of Gillett Evernham Motorsports. After leading twice for six laps last week in Pocono and running in the top-15 for most of the race, handling issues in the closing laps relegated it to a 34th-place finish.
Talk about the track itself: "Michigan is a wide race track, which is great because it allows me to move around and find the fastest way around based on how my car is handling. I've always qualified pretty well at Michigan, but haven't had the results we deserved during the race. We've been a lot faster since the Lowe's Motor Speedway test and I feel like our cars are getting better and have more speed. We need to put a good race together and leave Michigan with a top-10 effort. As a company, we have a lot of momentum right now and this 19 team needs to capitalize on it."
What about racing MIS with the new car: "So far this year, we've seen track position being extremely important. It'll be interesting to see if it's as hard to pass at MIS as it has been at most of the other tracks. Pocono last week was very similar to a road course. Hopefully, being back on a wide, open oval will make for some exciting racing for the teams and the fans."
Chassis Info: The No. 19 team will use GEMS #243; last raced at Richmond.
Sadler on your TV set: Fans can catch Sadler on SPEED TV's "Trackside Live" every Friday for the remainder of the season. Also, the No. 19 McDonald's Dodge will carry an in-car camera this weekend at MIS.
Sadler at MIS: In 18 previous races, has earned one outside pole with seven top-10 starts. Has one top-five and three top-10 finishes while leading three races for 22 laps. Completion rate is 93.1% making 3247 of 3488 laps.
Sadler's Season: Is currently 28th in points trailing 27th by 30 points and 25th by 67 markers. Has one outside pole (Phoenix) and two top-10 finishes (Daytona and Charlotte).
Get your hands on the hood: Just before the Best Buy 400 at Dover, Sadler autographed and dated a specially-designed hood on the No. 19 Dodge. After the race, it was removed from the car -- as is -- and put on the online auction block at www.sadlerfoundation.org/auction_page.asp to raise money for Autism Speaks. Bidding is currently at $2,150 and ends on June 19. Bid big and win this exclusive, one-of-a-kind hood for Autism Awareness.
