"We've had a good last month and we're going to try and keep the momentum going this weekend. We would have liked to get a qualifying lap in, but the weather didn't cooperate. Our Budweiser Dodge has been really fast and MIS is a track that we've had past success. It's fun to drive you car here because of all the different lines that it (the track) provides. Hopefully we'll have some time tomorrow to keep working on our setup and get us ready for Sunday."
KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) 22nd
"The speeds are going to continue to get faster because of the cooler temperatures. I like Michigan Speedway. I love running around this race track. We're so far behind (point standings) right now, it's just a matter of doing our job week in and week out and just chipping away at it. Hopefully, we can have some good luck with us. We're just trying to find something that will help our cars drive a little better. At the same time, when they're driving a little better, it creates more opportunities to do things in the pits, whether it's two tires or fuel only. We were able to do that at Pocono last week and that helped us in our overall result, finishing eighth."
SAM HORNISH JR., (No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger) 35th
"That wasn't the lap we wanted. We were a little tight, but it was sprinkling (rain) pretty good and we left a bit out there on the race track. I feel like we could have run a 39 flat. Knowing we're in the race, there was no need for us to push it. I felt pretty comfortable so far in this car this weekend and don't want to have to go to a backup.
DOES YOUR OPEN WHEEL EXPERIENCE HELP YOU AT THIS TRACK? "Keep the patience you've learned with the other car (open wheel) and throw everything else out the window because the actual handling of the car, what you want out of it (the car) and the line, it's all totally different."
BOBBY LABONTE (No. 43 Marathon Spirit of America Motor Oil Dodge Charger) 20th
"I think the lap was OK. We picked up a lot from practice, but the track temperature has cooled down. I hope we can get it (qualifying) in now. We'll get to compare off the rest of the competitors as we go. Going out first, it's a little hard to judge where you're at. We unloaded pretty decent, worked on it and made it worse and made it better. So I feel pretty good about it (the lap). We haven't run that much in the draft or in traffic. We'll figure that out tomorrow. So far, it (the car) feels pretty good. Jeff Meendering and the guys, they took our last qualifying mock run, I told them what the car was doing, and we looked at some notes, thought of some ideas to change and made a few changes to the car. Being the first car out, it was a good lap for us."
