Mast feeling fine after scare on plane Brett Borden

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 30, 1998) A day after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning and slight dehydration aboard a commercial flight early Monday morning, Rick Mast was reportedly feeling fine and is ready to race in the inaugural nighttime running of the Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway Saturday night.

Mast began having problems on a flight from San Francisco to Atlanta, and the plane was diverted to Denver International Airport so that he could receive medical attention. He was taken to Denver Health Center where he was given blood tests and EKGs. He was cleared by the medical personnel there to return home later in the day on another commercial flight.

"He's feeling back to his old self," said team spokesman Pam Colbert. "He's ready to hit Daytona. He'll come in Thursday and run there all weekend."
