Country Music Superstar Trace Adkins Named Grand Marshal and Honorary Starter For Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500
Memphis, Tn. (March 17, 2009) -- Country music superstar and multi-faceted entertainer Trace Adkins will be the Grand Marshal and Honorary Starter for the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday, March 29. Adkins has achieved unprecedented success as a musician, author, philanthropist and actor.
Trace Adkins, as Grand Marshal, will lead 500 men, women and their families as honorary Grand Marshals. Goody's Headache Powders and Martinsville Speedway identified these hardworking people through outreach to local businesses in the Martinsville/Henry (VA) county area. Goody's and Martinsville Speedway salute all hardworking people and are honored to have these 500 people as guests and honorary grand marshals.
"We are excited to welcome Trace Adkins to the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 and have him lead our 500 honorary grand marshals during pre-race ceremonies," Darren Singer, Vice President of Marketing for Goody's Headache Powders said. "Trace Adkins' work ethic and strength of character represent hardworking people everywhere and especially in "Goody's Country".
An esteemed member of the Grand Ole Opry since 2003, Adkins has sold over eight million albums with more than 25 of his singles hitting the Billboard Top 40 country charts. In 2008, he performed over 135 live shows to 1.3 million fans. In 2009, Adkins will headline 55 US tour dates and tour with Toby Keith for 35 US dates.
Adkins just released his tenth album for Capitol Records titled, TRACE ADKINS "X" (TEN) and has already produced two Top 20 hits with the debut single, "Muddy Water," and "Marry For Money," with the latter becoming the fastest-rising single of his career.
In 2008, Adkins became a household name after appearing on Donald Trump's hit reality series, "The Celebrity Apprentice" (NBC). He became one of the show's two finalists and has since raised more than $300,000 for his charity, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN).
In addition to his 2008 American Man Tour, Adkins recently traveled overseas for his second USO tour where he performed for our servicemen and women. In 2007, he was honored with the USO Merit Award in recognition of his dedication to assisting others through charitable works.
"Trace Adkins is the perfect pick for this task. He is a working man and all working people identify with him," said Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell. "He's a race fan, too. He understands the sport and he knows how hard our fans work so they can come out on the weekends to enjoy NASCAR racing."
