"It's a pretty good lap. The first warm-up lap, I really had it pretty sideways, and the second lap, I got a lot better, and the third lap was better yet. The tires are real hard to get a hold of, it's real hard, but we had a good run today."
ON THE TIME.
"We got the pole right now, there's a lot of cars yet to go. The key is to get a good qualifying run up front, and hopefully get a good pit selection, because I firmly believe that track position is going to be everything in the world on Sunday."

TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING RUN.
"Well, it was a good qualifying lap. I didn't expect it to be that quick, but we made some changes right before qualifying and it picked it up a little bit. I thought the 14 (20.14 seconds) would hold for the pole, to tell you the truth, and Gordon got in with a 12 and got us, so I'm real happy to get second if I couldn't get first. It gives us good pit selection out there. To me, there are only two good pits out there that I really like, every time I'm come here that I've won with before. I've got one of them for Sunday and that's good."
YOU PICKED UP FROM PRACTICE.
"We unloaded with a certain setup in the car that was way off and we kept adjusting on it, adjusting on it and by the time we were done, I ran a 23 in practice, and we made one more adjustment before qualifying, put the new tires on it and did all the normal qualifying stuff and ran a 14. So, it picked up what I thought it would pick up, to tell you the truth. We weren't having a great morning, but the car did what it was supposed to do."
TALK ABOUT THE TIRES HERE.
"The tires are real hard, real durable and they will run for a long time, but I hope the race is a little bit better than Bristol because I expect these tires to run for a long time, though, and if that's the case then track position is going to be everything in the world. There will probably be a lot of no tires and two-tire runs, stuff like that happening out there."

"I think pit number 1 and pit number 12 are the best."
