Musgrave ready to "race and roll" in Martinsville.
MARTINSVILLE, VA, October 17, 2002 - Ted Musgrave, currently third in points in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, is ready for his third start of the season in the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge at the Old Dominion 500 at historic Martinsville Speedway.
In addition to Martinsville this weekend, Musgrave will pilot the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge, with its innovative chrome paint scheme, at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Musgrave will pull double duty both weekends, as he will also compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races at both tracks. Earlier this year, Musgrave drove the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he finished 21st in the Brickyard 400, and Darlington Raceway, where he finished 27th in the Mountain Dew Southern 500.
Musgrave on racing at Martinsville Speedway
"Not having raced here in a Winston Cup car in a while, this weekend is going to be a challenge for us, but one that I know we are up for. The key to short track racing is patience and saving your brakes. It's a long race, so it's important for us to take everything in stride and know that we don't have to force anything
"Right now our goal is to qualify the Kenwood/Sirius Dodge. After we qualify and we know we're in the show, we then can turn things 180 degrees and focus on what we're going to do for the race. If this Kenwood/Sirius team can be consistent, give it 100 percent and leave nothing on the table, we will have a solid run and be pleased with the end result."
Musgrave on short track racing
"I have always enjoyed racing on the short tracks. Speed is not as important as technique and handling, especially at a track like Martinsville, where the corners are real sharp. I'm really looking forward to this weekend and proving how good this Kenwood/Sirius team can perform."
Musgrave on the opportunity to drive the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge three more times this season
"This is without a doubt a tremendous opportunity for me, and I'm anxiously looking forward to racing the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge three more times this season. We were competitive in Indianapolis and Darlington, so I am really looking forward to showing people how good this Kenwood/Sirius team can be. If we stay focused each week and give it our all, we will put together solid runs and finish strong down the stretch."
