AMBROSE SURVIVES MARTINSVILLE WITH 27TH PLACE FINISH

Marcos Ambrose has finished 27th in the TUMS Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia today.

Ambrose endured fading brakes and a spin with Matt Kenseth during the 500-lap race, staged on the small half-mile Martinsville oval.

It was an up and down weekend for Ambrose on the timesheets, who was eighth fastest in the sole practice session held (Saturday's sessions were rained out) but qualifying down in 34th position.

Ambrose maintains 17th in the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points standings with four races remaining. The schedule moves to Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama next weekend.

Denny Hamlin won today's TUMS Fast Relief 500 ahead of Jimmie Johnson and Juan Pablo Montoya.

WHAT MARCOS HAD TO SAY --

"This track is rough and tough and that was the case for us today," said Ambrose.

"We got it home in the end but our brakes were running hot and a few other things hurt us.

"We go from Martinsville to Talladega now -- you couldn't find two more different race tracks in the world!

"Our superspeedway results have been good this year so I'm keen to have a good run next weekend and get back on track."
