Notes: This is the second time Goodyear has brought this specific combination of left- and right-side tires to Martinsville . . both the NASCAR Nextel Cup and Truck Series will compete on the same tire set-up this weekend . . . Martinsville is the only track where Nextel Cup teams will use this specific tire combination, though this right-side tire (D-6836) was used on the two front tire positions at both Sears Point and Watkins Glen . . . in addition to Martinsville, truck series teams used this combination at Mansfield back in May . . . because Martinsville is an oval of less than one mile in length, teams will not run inner liners this weekend.
Goodyear Quote -- Mark Keto, Lead Engineer, Stock Car Tire Development: "The race track at Martinsville has been re-concreted in the corners since the spring race. We attended the team testing held there a few weeks ago and the new surface is smooth with a lot of grip. We will be using the same tire set-up that was used in the spring, but the speeds will be up slightly due to the new concrete in the corners."
