Atwood's Comments on Martinsville

"I like Martinsville. I haven't had a real strong run there, although I have run in the top-10 before and then got into a wreck. It takes me back to where I grew up - short track, real tight racing. You've got to be real patient here, and I'm usually a pretty patient driver. I think it sets up well for the Sirius team to have a good run here this weekend.

"The corners are real sharp and you have to use a lot of brakes. Saving your brakes is the most important part of racing at Martinsville. Most everybody can finish the race and still have brakes, but they get so worn out and so hot that they don't work as well at the end. If you can still run fast but save your brakes and not use them up so you still have brakes at the end, that's the most important thing.

"They shaved down the surface of the track and cut grooves in it. They cut lines in the track and the cars could cause the edge of the concrete to chip making it real jagged causing the tires to blow out. We won't really know what will happen until we get there and start practicing."
