TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"That was not as good as I would have liked. The car drove the best it has all day. Zippy and the guys did a great job with the Home Depot Monte Carlo. It was just a typical driver deal at Martinsville. It's very easy to overdrive and make mistakes by trying too hard and that's what I did. I just did my normal lap here."
MIKE SKINNER, NO. 4 KODAK PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"I don't know. The motor ran real, real good. The car drove good. The first lap I spun the tires an awful lot. I think I was just a little too aggressive with the throttle. It just didn't seem like our Kodak Pontiac ever recovered from it. I really thought our third lap, which was the second timed lap, was going to be a lot better than that."
RICKY CRAVEN, NO. 32 TIDE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"That wasn't very pretty. We tested here last week and I feel really good about that. We made several long race runs, so I think it will be OK. Qualifying wasn't that spectacular, but we'll be OK."
JOE NEMECHEK, NO. 25 UAW-DELPHI CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"That's a very good run for our whole UAW-Delphi Chevy team. We came here and tested did strictly race runs, and had a very good test here. Without doing any qualifying runs at the test, I think that is pretty good. The car has been pretty good since we unloaded off the truck. That lap, I still gave some away because I spun the tires really bad up off of turn two. But, we'll take it."
JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE'S CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO:
"I was just trying to be smooth and was looking at a top 10 starting spot here. It's close to the same speed we ran in practice. The racer in me wishes we would have been just a few hundredths faster. That would have put us in the top five, but starting in the top 10 is very important. And we got that done."
