ANDY HILLENBURG - No. 80 - Commercial Truck and Trailer Taurus (Finished 42nd)
"I thought the throttle hung up, but I think we broke a hose. Somebody said they saw just a bunch of smoke and fluid down, so it's just like a throttle sticks when you do hit oil or water. We just went straight into the wall. It was really a shame because we've been getting better every week and this week we were finally able to keep up with the guys. It's just really tough. We're trying. We went back and built us a faster car. It's still not the fastest, but now we'll go back and build an even faster one and a little more dependable."
MATT KENSETH - No. 17 DEWALT Tools Taurus (Finished 8th)
"That was a good finish. We improved on what we usually do here. We still need to get better, but that was a lot better than we usually run here."
THE LAST 100 LAPS WERE PRETTY INTENSE. "Yeah, there was some stuff going on out there so we just tried to get our to work the best we could and get as many spots as we could."
THE INCIDENT WITH HARVICK. WHAT HAPPENED. "That was my fault. He was running on the outside and he waved out the window like he wanted me to go by on the inside. I was still on the inside and he just came down in front of me and hit the brakes real hard and I just couldn't get slowed up."
YOU MUST FEEL GOOD TO GET OUT OF HERE IN GOOD SHAPE. "This is probably my worst place - here and Sears Point - so when I get out of here with a top 10 I'm pretty happy. You always want to do better, but to finish eighth here and survive the whole day - it's a long day here so I'm pretty happy with that."
DID THE DELAY AFFECT YOU OR YOUR CAR? "My car didn't run at all after that red flag. I just couldn't get going at all. After we put tires back on I was OK, so it seemed to hurt us a little bit there, but we got most of it back at the end."
RICKY RUDD - No. 21 Motorcraft Taurus (Finished 20th)
"We were alright until we got to the lapped car or Kasey Kahne. I don't know what he was doing. He was racing us really hard. He was a lap down and we were on the lead lap and we got together. He wouldn't get out of the way. We got together. His fenders were stuck out there real wide. I don't know if he had a previous wreck or what, but a fender cut our tire down and we had to pit and lost two laps. We got one of them back and had a decent car. I think we had a top-10 car, but we just ended up 20th."
AFTER THE RED FLAG THINGS SEEMED TO FALL APART. "We were hovering around 13th or 14th all day and then they decided to free the car up a little bit and the car got better. By the time it got better though we got into Kasey Kahne. It was uncalled for. He was racing too hard. He was laps down. I guess he's got something to learn. He's a great driver but he's got some etiquette to learn."
ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Taurus (Finished 12th)
"That's pretty disappointing to have a fifth or sixth place car most of the day, but I just wore my brakes out from using them too much. I wore my front ones out and all I had was rear brakes left at the end of the race and I really couldn't race with those guys. I learned a lesson today and we'll try to get 'em next week. It's just frustrating to run in the top 10 all day until right there at the end because I really wanted to get these guys a top-10 finish, but we'll go back to the drawing board. We'll work on the car a little bit and work on my racing technique a little bit before we go to Richmond and maybe we'll do better there."
DALE JARRETT - No. 88 UPS Taurus (Finished 10th)
YOU PITTED LATE AND WENT FROM 19TH WITH 37 LAPS TO GO TO 10TH. "Yeah, we had good strategy but not very good execution. We'll work on that, but we just never got the car to where I could get up off the corner. That's why I couldn't pass at the end even with the fresher tires. We had good strategy and worked hard and made a top 10 out of it."
KURT BUSCH - No. 97 Sharpie/IRWIN Taurus (Finished 11th)
CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE FINAL FEW LAPS? "That's Martinsville. We just weren't in position to hold our spot. We were just struggling. We were real loose to start the race and we never recovered from that. We went from fourth to 25th and just kept piecing it together all day from one stop to another. We got the car good and then got the car bad - we were just all over the map."
IS THIS ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHERE YOU MADE THE BEST OUT OF THE SITUATION? "Yeah, it's just frustrating because we have to come and race here in the fall and it's really gonna count as far as being one of the final 10 races so we've got some work to do."
