DALE JARRETT -- No. 88 UPS Ford Fusion (Qualified 28th)

DOES GOING OUT EARLY HURT? "It's hard to say here. It shouldn't hurt you that much, but the track is a little different. We just kind of flattened the nose there. I don't know if that was a product of poor rubber down and that's what we've got to look forward to the rest of the weekend, but that hurt me a little bit. Is that gonna be any different for the rest of these guys? I don't know that."

STARTING CLOSE TO THE FRONT IS KEY. "Yeah, it does help definitely. You can win from anywhere. What it does is make you probably change your strategy a little bit at times if you're not starting up front. I don't think that's gonna be up front. I think that's gonna be mid-twenties at best, so we'll have to look at some things. If you've got a good car, though, you can make that up."

ELLIOTT SADLER -- No. 38 M&M's Ford Fusion (Qualified 7th)

"To go out there and cut that kind of lap is pretty cool. I think our car is very good in race trim and that's all we did pretty much today. I think that'll be somewhere in the top 10, so hopefully we'll hold on for that and get us a good pit selection and move on from there."

WHAT ABOUT THE RACE? "I think we're gonna be good. We just did all race runs in practice. That's all we really concentrated on, but I'm proud of my guys. They built me a new race car and it's fun to drive. I haven't had this much fun in one weekend at Martinsville, I think, since I was running late models. I've got a really good race car, so we'll see what happens. I think we're gonna be good. The guys built me a great car. It's a Martinsville car. I've never had really a good short track car and these guys went all out and built me a new one. I'm very happy right now. I think we've got something for these guys -- maybe not to win the race but we'll definitely have a top-five car come Sunday. Now the driver just has to use his head and stay out of trouble for 500 laps."

JAMIE MCMURRAY -- No. 26 Irwin/Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Qualified 2nd)

WILL IT HOLD UP? "I don't know. Sometimes at Martinsville it's hard just to back up your time, but the Irwin car has been really good. From the time that we've unloaded Jimmy and everyone has brought a great car. We've struggled the last few weeks, so it feels so good to get a good lap in. We felt like in race trim wed had one of the best cars and I didn't ever really get to make a bonsai run, so I don't know if it'll hold for the pole but it'll be a top 10."

HOW MUCH DID CLOUD COVER HELP? "It seemed kind of cloudy most of the day and it's fairly cool outside. The fact the corners are concrete, I don't think it's as big a deal as normal. At some race tracks it's a big deal, but our race car has been good from the time we unloaded."

GREG BIFFLE -- No. 16 National Guard Ford Fusion (Qualified 10th)

"I can't complain. I don't know if the track is gonna get any faster so I don't know how it will hold up. I hope it will be a top 15, but you just never know. If it stays cloudy or cools off any the guys might pick up a little bit."

WHAT ABOUT MARTINSVILLE SO FAR? "So far, so good. I wish they'd just give out the points as far as the qualifying order. We usually qualify like OK and run like crap. Hopefully I can turn it around this weekend."

HOW WAS THE LAP? "That's really what I was hoping for. I was hoping I'd get an .80 or possibly get in the .70's and we did that. Hopefully it'll be a top 15 starting spot, maybe a top 10. I'm just excited to have the National Guard car running this good around Martinsville. It's pretty good in qualifying trim, we'll just have to see if I can get it decent in race trim. That's the big key for us."

MATT KENSETH -- No. 17 DeWalt Ford Fusion (Qualified 16th)

"You always look to go faster. I probably could run in the seventies, but I didn't get through three and four very fast. I had a pretty good one and two. I was hoping to run in the seventies to get a good place to start. I don't know where this will put us at, but it wasn't quite what I hoped for."

CARL EDWARDS -- No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion (Qualified 15th)

"That's OK. We got a couple of race runs in during practice and that's the best qualifying position we've had here. As much as I want to be on the pole, that's fine."
