The right front wheel, which came flying off of the Kodak MAX Film Chevy during Sunday's Winston Cup event at Martinsville, is back in Abingdon, Va. today undergoing extensive tests. In an unusual situation, all five studs sheered off of the tire assembly. NASCAR officials confiscated the tire following the event. They checked it for possible trick parts, but found nothing out of the ordinary. The tire assembly was released and sent home with the team. Bobby Hamilton quotes concerning the incident "I think somewhere around lap 280, I thought I felt a loose wheel on the right front. I radioed in to the team and told them something was wrong as I exited turn four. By the time I got to turn two, the whole tire flew off. "It never vibrated. All of a sudden it just broke off. I don't think they all sheered at one time. I've never had this happen before. " I am frustrated. We had a good car. We were caught up in a wreck and then worked our way back up through the field. I believe we picked up about 11 positions in 40 laps. We made a call for two tires to gain track position and came out 11th. We ended up 35th, so that tells you why I'm frustrated."

Larry McClure: "NASCAR took the part. Anytime there is a safety concern they do that. There were no illegal parts on it. We used nothing different from what we have for the past two years. All parts, the spindle, rotors, hub, lugnuts, hat and so on were authorized parts. "I do not know why it happened. We are performing extensive wheel tests on it today to see what could have caused the situation. We will be at Charlotte on Wednesday, so my main concern is to make sure this does not happen again. "I feel like Deputy Dog today, investigating every possibility. Keeping our driver safe out there is the main focus of mine right now. "I feel we had the car and the driver to beat. Once again a strange twist of fate came our way. We can be good at Charlotte. Some of the guys on the 21 crew came up to us after the race and said maybe our teams would have a change of luck pretty soon, I sure hope so."
