WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid)
"You've got to keep your nose clean here, and 500 laps at this track is a long way. There's a lot of factors that come into these races. That was half a tenth better than we'd practiced. To go out first we know that's a big disadvantage, so if we can end up in the top 15 I think that'll be really good."
CASEY MEARS (No. 41 Target Dodge Intrepid)
"We're real happy. This is such a tough place I learned so much in testing here and so many guys helped me so much, but I was worried about how we were going to qualify here. It's real easy to overdrive, and it's real easy to underdrive. It's so tough to find the groove. The biggest thing I tried to do in qualifying was to drive as smooth as I could, and we came through with a good time."
KEN SCHRADER (No. 49 1-800-CallATT Dodge Intrepid)
"We're very happy with that. We struggled all day, but Scott (crew chief Eggleston) and the guys did a bunch of work before qualifying. We just tried to get it where it would turn. It turned, but we had to wait a little bit on the throttle. We're OK."
JIMMY SPENCER (No. 7 Sirius Satellite Radio Dodge Intrepid)
"I just hope it ends up in the top 15. I drove it in the corner too far, and I couldn't get the car turned quick enough. If we're not in the top 15 because of it, it's because of that mistake on my part."
BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge Intrepid)
"It wasn't a great run, but that's about the way we had been practicing. We've been struggling a little bit with this Dodge, but we'll be OK for Sunday."
JAMIE McMURRAY (No. 42 Havoline Dodge Intrepid)
Note: Fastest rookie
"For as bad as we were in practice, I'm really happy with that lap. We made a few adjustments on the car and got pretty good. We took a little Donnie Wingo been there, done that advice and we got a little lucky, too. I think we all learn a little bit from each other. Casey and I can go to Sterling at a race track that we don't have a lot of experience at or at a track where Sterling is really good. I tested at Kentucky two days this week and also at Greenville-Pickens. I think we all learn a little bit from each other. I didn't know where we expected to be. I think my team has come a long way, but I hate we've had up and down weekends. I think we've shown strength at times. I think there's a lot of potential for our team."
RUSTY WALLACE (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Intrepid)
"It was a pretty good run. I was just a little bit free up off the corners, but we picked it up a good, solid two-tenths from practice. We tried so many different things. We took all those things we thought would work and combined them into one. We went out there and got in a good lap. We've got an idea of what we want to change from previous times here for the race, so I feel good about Sunday."
STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid)
"I was hoping we could run faster. We tried to tighten the car up a little bit for qualifying, and we got it a little too tight. We'll be good in the race."
KENNY WALLACE (No. 23 Stacker2 Dodge Intrepid)
"It was good. I thought we could run quicker the second lap. I got in the gas a little quicker because the car was ready to go. I got up to the wall a little too quick. We'd all like to rerun our laps. I don't know if I would do anything different. I think I got all I could out of the car."
