CORNELIUS, N.C. — Martin Truex Jr. and the “NAPA Know How” crew have led 146 laps in the first four races of 2011 - the most laps the Michael Waltrip Racing driver has ever led at this point in a NASCAR Sprint Cup season. Truex expects to add to that total - or at least lead the last lap - Sunday at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.
No matter how he runs, Truex will look good. That’s because he designed and now wears the black and yellow, camouflage NAPA Racing Cap that will be free with any purchase while supplies last at participating NAPA AUTO PARTS stores beginning in April.
Martin Truex Jr. on the NAPA Cap Giveaway: “NAPA came to me and asked if I would help design this year’s cap and I did. I’m really pleased with how it turned out because when fans see it, they'll know it’s something I would definitely wear and I do. We had a bunch of fans last weekend asking where they could pick one up and when I told them it was this year’s free cap, they said they were going to NAPA to get one. I don’t expect the cap to be in stock for very long.”
Truex on Racing at the Auto Club Speedway: “Our mile-and-a-half program is the strongest it’s ever been right now so we’re excited about going back. Hopefully we can finish what we started at Bristol. I truly feel a win for this NAPA team is right around the corner. It’s been a few years since I’ve been in victory lane and I look forward to going back. I have an incredible race team and as a group, we’ve only been together for a year so to see how we have progressed is impressive. A win for us is going to happen. I hope it’s soon so some pressure will come off of them so we can keep having fun.”
