New Hampshire International Speedway
Ken Schrader Said...
"I'm not necessarily a fan of running restrictor plates at New Hampshire, but we need to do something and I think NASCAR is making the best call they can at this time. Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with the track. Those were two unfortunate incidents that happened to occur at the same track. I don't know what the right answer is right now, but I know safety issues are not being ignored."
Ken Schrader Information...
* The "M&M's" Racing Team is using the same car this weekend that ran just a few days ago in Richmond. The car has been a solid performer in its previous three starts this season. This particular "M&M's" Pontiac finished 12th at Richmond in June and then followed that up with a seventh-place qualifying effort at RIR last weekend. The car also competed at NHIS earlier this season, qualifying seventh. Schrader ran in the top five and top 10 for the majority of the 300-lap event at NHIS, but a gamble in the pits in hopes of a race-ending rainstorm relegated the team to a 23rd-place finish.
"We were really pleased with our run last time at New Hampshire," Schrader said. "It was one of our better runs all year, but we gambled a little bit with our pit strategy and it didn't play out quite like we'd hoped."
* Always a threat to win the pole position at New Hampshire International Speedway, Schrader is riding a wave of qualifying momentum that is sure to increase his chances for a repeat qualifying effort. Schrader has two previous pole positions at NHIS and has only failed to qualify in the top 10 once.
