RUSTY WALLACE --2-- Miller Lite Taurus (Qualified 3rd):

"It took awhile for me to get used to the race track, the different transitions and stuff. We changed the car up a lot. We were moving springs around quite a bit -- a lot of things -- and finally got it to where it felt the very best to me. We were somewhere between 11th and 14th in practice times, but I thought I could pick it up for qualifying and I was able to. When I went down into turn one, the car was real loose getting in the corner, it got real loose in the center, but up off the corner it drove really, really good. I thought it would fix itself the second lap and it never did. It kept doing the same thing, so I was probably lucky to run an .04 and be third, but we've had a good car right off the truck, just like Ryan said. We tuned on it and got it better, so I'm happy with the run."

WHAT WAS THE WEATHER LIKE WHEN YOU SET THE TRACK RECORD?

"No, I don't. I just remember that for some reason you get those early draws and it's just tough to get going for some reason. I don't know. But I can remember qualifying here good when I went out first one time, but I was also at the back of the NASCAR trailer pleading with them that they didn't take any cars or run any different types of divisions out there before Winston Cup qualifying and they didn't. The track stayed pretty consistent, so that was probably the reason I qualified good that one time. If I get a number past 10, 12, 13 -- something like that for qualifying -- I feel a lot better than I do one or two."

DID YOU NOTICE A CHANGE WITH THE TRACK?

"They've tried to add another lane on the bottom to pass and I'm excited about it for the race. I don't know if I'll see it so much in practice tomorrow, but in the race when you line all 43 cars up side by side and you get sliding around a lot, you'll probably be able to use that bottom lane a little bit more. Right now I'm kind of entering on the flat and then running up in the center of the corner and kind of exiting on the flat leaving. So I'm still getting used to it, I really am. Anytime somebody tries to make an improvement on something I kind of like that. I think they did a good job. Again, we've just got to get in the race to see what it does."
